Port your Business Online for Success

  • Posted on May 25, 2010 at 1:15 pm

In the current economic climate as the recession bites harder, people will be turning more and more to the internet to source their purchases. Initially they can look for the best bargains and then purchase on-line without even having to leave their homes. This beats the hell out of having to drive miles, find parking space, queue for bargains and then carry the items home or wait for delivery of large products. If your company is still living in the dark ages, and you don’t have an online business then you are offering the competition sales on a plate.

In order to stay competitive, businesses need to offer their services or products online, as well as doing business the traditional way. Have you seen the Maytag Refrigerators? They are those big American style things you see in the movies that you can fit a month’s worth of food in for a family of 11! Well I’ve always wanted one so recently I researched the full product line up entirely online before buying mine (and it’s fantastic by the way, get one!)

In the end I bought it from an offline retailer (John Lewis, because it’s true they have never knowingly been undersold!) but I was able to research the best prices online before I went in and ordered it.

Businesses today need to communicate with potential customers who do business mostly online. Be smart and start today to get your business online and out in front, even if you do sell your products mainly offline.

These days just having a well built website is no longer sufficient. Even if you are in a very niche sector you will still have to market your website in order to take full advantage of the search engine traffic.

One of my clients who operates a very successful access control business has been online for several years, but over the last few years his website enquiries had dropped off to almost nothing until he started promoting the site in the search engines and now he gets quite a few website enquiries again.

When you manage an online business you potentially have a world-wide audience, depending on your product or service. This means you need to have twenty four seven customer access, due to the time differences around the world. Automatic systems to respond to orders will be a vital part of the website design otherwise you will need staff available working unsociable hours. In this new world, the old ways of import/export will become obsolete.

When managing an online business you need to be a Jack of all trades. But communication is an essential part of all the different aspects of running a business. Email and instant messaging are efficient ways of communicating with employees, particularly when different time zones are a complication. Setting up an online conference room will save the need for physical space and travelling and will provide a forum for members to air their views, concerns and challenges.

The website index page is the first thing visitors see when visiting your site. To make a good impression you will need a good brand image, clear information and a user friendly process so that customer will find it easy to purchase their goods. (Don’t make it hard for your customers to find their way around the system and buy products, no matter how clever something may be.)

If you have a content management system on your website and can turn your hand to SEO article writing it will be able to update your website product offerings yourself, and also get your products listed highly in Google, Yahoo and MSN search engine.

Statistics reporting is another service which can give you valuable information on how many people are accessing the site, and from that information you can see if your services/goods are attracting the sales you want. If not then there is an opportunity to revamp your products or website to improve on conversion rates.
For customer satisfaction make sure your business provides excellent quality products, efficient service, and an easy to use system. Where items are good value for money, customers will be happy to recommend your company to friends and family and sales will increase.

The growth of the internet gives a whole new meaning to the world of commerce. Using ecommerce websites millions of people are out there starting new online businesses, all wanting a piece of the market, all wanting to make their millions. So make sure your business is one of the forerunners and get yourself up there on the first page on Google. Don’t wait, get started now before your competitors leave you behind. Five years from now you’ll be glad if you read this and took action. You have got a five year plan right?

Great Tips for Home Decor Lighting

  • Posted on May 25, 2010 at 6:39 am

Any good interior designer will tell you to start with a central point of your room, around which your decorative objects may flow. Once you have selected your focus, find pictures in magazines and decorating books for inspiration.

We recommend you to visit this lighting company, they have a free guide with great resources. With a great selection of chandelier lamps
choose one and follow these great tips to decorate the interior of your home successfully:

Choose a base object of decoration: select an object of great impact as a starting point. This piece can be a floor cushion with a beautiful fabric, a poster or a painting, a floral arrangement, a vase, a rug or anything that goes well with your style. This object will set the style, theme and tone you expect to create in space and help determine your overall combination of colors.

Finding a theme for your project is creative and enjoyable! A good theme will say something about yourself and your interests and will greatly simplify your decorating decisions when shopping.

Say your theme is Mediterranean decor, minimalistic decor, tropical décor or cabin decor, in each case the objects you choose will be basic enhancers in creating the look you want.

For example, you can easily create an “Old European” theme by adding some colorful glazed bowls, an oil painting (or print of one), simply adding a small chandelier or perhaps changing the wall color to tones of rich or soft pastels, or both.

The home is also a wonderful place to reflect the seasons with different holiday decorations. Have fun decorating with fall palates of oranges, browns reds and ocres, or let your living room be reborn with fresh cut flowers and fresh, bright colors for spring.

Sort individual items: this eliminates loose things from your environment to underpin a better overall appearance. For example, get some baskets that match your theme (wood, wicker, cloth, sea grass, Longaberger), these can be used for storing magazines, toys, mail or any of the myriad things that so quickly clutter up our living spaces.

You can also organize the objects by adding shelves and display your collections in one place for a great personal finish. Gather your various porcelain figurines, travel souvenirs, decorative boxes or Tuscan pottery scattered all around your house and display them together.

Shelves come in a variety of decorative styles and materials ranging from wood and wrought iron to acrylic and steel and can help raise your eyes in a space.

Refresh with floral decorations:

floral decoration – from wreaths and silk flowers, to silk plants and fresh cut arrangements can bring a fresh perspective to your space and really make it come alive.

You can easily integrate your flowers and plants with any theme, whether it is adding a terracotta pot for Tuscan flair, tropical silk flowers or plants for your island theme or fresh cut lilies to welcome spring with both an eye-catching centre piece and a lovely fresh fragrance.

A single tulip in a simple ceramic vase on a mantle can have as much impact as an overflowing silk flower arrangement that adorns the dining table. The key is to add that little burst of color and vibrancy.

Decorate the walls: Pretend that your walls are a blank page, regardless of the color of paint. There are many items to decorate your walls, from paintings and posters to shelves, tapestries, sconces and boxes which make it difficult to know where to start. Remember to put your theme or style as the ordering principle.

Acrylic display shelves, highly fashionable posters, reinforce a modern style, while black and white pictures in wooden frames can create a sense of antiquity. To unify a group of pictures, frame them in similar frames.

Synchronize your wall art in relation to the size of the wall and furniture. The landscape paintings and posters with images of a scene open a small space and create “a window outside”, as do mirrors. Whereas modern art works well in wide open spaces and bring you “in”.

Simply use them as inspiration. Trust your instincts, taste and natural style. Choose a meyda tiffany. Are you attracted to the clean lines and geometric shapes of modern minimalism? Or do you prefer a haven of bamboos, orchids and dark wood of quiet Asian Zen? Listen to what your heart says and follow your instincts!

Reduce the cost of airport parking

  • Posted on May 25, 2010 at 6:35 am

Airport bosses particularly, since the loss of duty free revenue from holidaymakers visiting European Union countries have looked to improve revenue from such areas as airport parking.

The fees charged by airport operators is typically higher than parking off airport and in certain cases the difference can be double. The cost for Gatwick airport parking, parking at Heathrow, Manchester airport hotel parking when parking off airport will be determined by the proximinity to the airport and how much space a particular car park has remaining.

Off site car parks have come a long way since they first started out and are now professionally operated organisations adopting top standards in safety such as that granted under the Safer Park Mark Scheme which is an initiative of the Associations of Chief Police Officers aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities. Apart from high standards of security these car parks run frequent transport to and from the airport.

When a traveller is short of time, parking at the airport may be the best choice but if time is not an issue the best value parking will always be found at an off site car park.

The other main bonus of parking at an off airport car park is that you can avoid having to navigate around a frantic airport where many passengers have little or no idea where they are going but have to move at the same speed as other drivers. This is a far less hassle free way of arriving at the airport.
